So as you have probably already guessed, like most Witches, I love crafting 🙂
I make lots of different things, sometimes it’s a one off, just to see if I can make it! Sometimes I make things as gifts for others, sometimes for me and sometimes simply because I enjoy crafting.
My house is full of little nik-naks so when I have a lot of the same thing I will occassionally sell some of my things on eBay. However, I have not had the best of health recently as I have a damaged neck/back and have found myself at home due to the fact that I am currently unable to drive (fingers crossed that will change soon!). So to while away some of the hours I have been trying new and different crafts.
One of my lovely Witchy friends suggested I take some of my things to a local Witches Fayre that started up a year or two ago. I debated this for quite a while and in the end I thought “Well why not?”. I then bravely booked a table! Eeeek! Will anyone actually like any of my things, let alone buy any of them?
Over the past 6 months I have gathered together some of the different crafts I have made and added some of my new crafts. I had a few more things in mind to make (a few more crafts and some simple display stands). Fate had other things in mind for me though.
About five weeks before the Fayre I had to have a scan on my spine. I received a call the next day to say that the scan had incidently picked up a cyst on my ovary. I was not worried as I had been told I had a cyst a few years previously but it was too small to worry about. “Oh ok” said I, without any concern. This was followed by several more phone calls asking me to go in for more scans and tests.
Next I had an appointment to see a surgeon about what was going on (so far I had no real clue). It turned out the cyst was now 12cm with borderline features! They wanted to remove the cyst, ovaries etc ASAP. Another Eeeek!
Three weeks before the Fayre I had to have major abdominal surgery. Not fun! However, the good news came back a week before the Fayre to say that I did not have ovarian cancer.
At this point I can’t walk properly, I can barely lift anything and I certainly can’t bend down. So, to Fayre or not to Fayre, that was the question?
Fortunately for me a lovely friend stepped in to help. On the day of the Fayre she came and picked me up in her car and helped me with the stall.
So, I have now done my first ever Witches Fayre 🙂
The Fayre was well organised and well attended. I didn’t make a fortune but I’m happy. Some of my crafts sold! I met some lovely people and chatted with many. Would I recommend others to try with their own craft stall? Yes! Would I recommend others to go along to see what people are selling? Yes! Would I do it again. Yes I think I would try it again but not until I am feeling a bit better.

So now I am sitting relaxing with a nice cuppa and intend doing the same for the next week at least LOL.
Enjoy your day and keep crafting!
